SWEDSPAN International ltd.
IT consultancy
from June 2009

One of the biggest companies I was working for is SWEDSPAN International. The
company is a member of IKEA, currently known as IKEA Industry group (together
with SWEDWOOD). I started in the company as a network administrator, but with the right people we started building a new infrastructure. There were a lot of
questions to reply, a lot of problems to solve, but now, the IT works perfectly.
My responsibility was building desktop rules, global policy, implementation of WDS
technology and software management, participation on network architecture design,
providing 3rd support level for internal IT. I would also like to say about
SWEDSPAN’s plants migration into new infrastructure as I was participating on
migration in the France, Sweden, Lithuania, Poland and Russia. There were
implemented servers, networking, moved files, databases, network rules and audit
was done.

Short skills summary:
– corporate infrastructure design and administration
– infrastructure security design, audit and hardening
– IT process design
– international IT team support

EMITplus ltd.
IT administrator
from March 2003

My IT career started in the EMITplus company, where I was responsible for maintaining one
server and five computers. In my first year of employment, the company gained a few clients to
manage servers, clients and networks. Fine, time to learn, how to do that. I would say, it was very hectic time, but gave me valued skills and knowledge. I had
to read many books, done many experiments in the testing environment, implemented
many results to the production. And company grew. And their clients as well.
Time to implement professional equipments to server rooms. We were one of first
companies in Slovakia, who installed Oracle database on Linux system in the
production environment. Apropos, databases. The company mainly develops software.
A lot of products, but just three database engines to use. PostgreSQL, MySQL,
MSSQL, average each database size cca 200GB, All together have cca 1.8TB.
To save your time, now the company and it’s clients have over 50 servers
deployed in few cities in Slovakia, Austria and Czech republic, many network
equipments, VPN interconnections, firewalls, routers, functional monitoring
system. 90% of servers are running on Linux, rest of them on Windows. A lot of
them run in virtualization (on clusters, of course). First technology I used for
virtualization was XEN, at that time it was just one usable technology for my
hardware. But not last one. All machines were migrated to KVM with full
virtualization support. Some of our customers have implemented also VMware system,
and one of them uses Hyper-V. Everything designed, set-up and maintained by me.

– VM technologies VMware, XEN, KVM
– HA solutions
– databases administrator PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL
– network infrastructure developer and administrator
